KWord fonts screwed up

I just tried to write a letter with KWord. Using very small fonts like 8 or 9 it is legible, but with the larger fonts the letters are all squashed together. When I use "print preview", what looks ok on the screen is squashed together with larger fonts and it prints to my epson 440 the same way. I tried other than the default fonts and they are all the same way. What am I doing wrong? John

After checking mandrake software manager for all kde and kword progams I might not have loaded, and installing them to no avail on kword I tried abi word, it is great and It also will insert a bitmap picture in the document. What I was after was an ad for a antique truck for a friend and I got it now. Thanks, I just needed to get out of my microshaft way of thinking and get busy. John
