I am new to linux just installed mandrake 9.1 a week ago. Easy so far but now my keyboard freezes when i am prompted for the root password even in a superuser terminal. i can not access root through a GUI this is what i would like to do in order to set permissions on hardware and apps .i can use root password when asked for it by the system .I have read everything i have and can't find the answer I think i screwed it up trying to changes user permissions.
thanks for the help in advance
Erik
It's only a guess - but your root password would be invisible - when typing your root password you'll see nothing happening on the screen, but once you press enter, you should see the Root prompt as normal.
