Is this file safe to execute?

It's for my sister's Windows computer. I ran it through three scanners and they all found something. I mean, I know the stuff is there, but is it to be dismissed as false positives? Especially when so many other scanners found nothing? As of right now, there's no way I'm running it. The software is to adjust the glare of the monitor to the room's light. Thanks.

That is the way these scanners work. None of them get all. Some of them get most.

If your in doubt, don't do it.

Google the the whole file name to find out more...

If you really want to run it, try it in a VM and run it under Wine if possible...

A web search turned up nothing indicating that SunsetScreen is malware, but it also turned up an alternative, just to muddy up the issue: http://www.techsupportalert.com/cont...t-get-flux.htm

I have no intention of evaluating either one.

I think don't mess up with the file if it is quite suspicious.

Or see this link for anti-glare protector: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Anti-glare-m...-/271313758276

Hi Gregg...

No, I wouldn't consider the file safe to execute. It looks like a Windows screensaver that you can download free from the web and sometimes those come included with spy/adware.

Regards...

Thanks jefro. So you pretty much look for a unanimous 'clean' reading?

Thanks Jock. Yeah, I'm in major doubt. I did Google a bunch of those things and they are not good, a trojan horse amongst them.

Thanks Frank. I looked at that link and it made me realize that it or the other one is going to do much good. My sister's computer is in an office with the same lighting all the time.

Thanks JJJCR. Yeah, I'm staying away from it. Thanks for the link--that's something to consider.

Thanks ardvark. Yeah, I was reading that places even like Filehippo do the "bundling" stuff. It's sad.

You're welcome. Yes, unfortunately, some sites do this to earn revenue. I didn't know Filehippo did that, though.

Regards...
