Red face Is this even possible???mount /mnt/floppy


I tried to mount /mnt/floppy and i got " permission denied".
Yes i was root. I thought something was using the floppy cause i formatted using one of the default gui floppy formatter tools.

after the reboot it still did the same thing. How is this possible?

check the permissions of
/mnt/ and
/mnt/floppy

also check /etc/fstab and see if you have "rw" or "ro"
IE.......read/write or read only respectively

did you mount like this

mount -t auto /dev/floppy /mnt/floppy


and also if that does not work try

chmod 777 /mnt/floppy

and

chmod 777 /dev/floppy

OK--i've had the same problem before. Use konqueror or natilus to look at the picture of the /mnt/floppy/ directory icon. Does it have a lock on it? What I know is that I did this unknowningly, just like you. When i did a full reinstall, the directories were set back to normal
