IP packet generation

Hi,

I want to generate the IP packets from my linux machine and send it to some other IP for my some testing purpose.I want to change the size of the packet also.
Pls suggest me how can I do that. I heard I can do it with socket or Ping ?

Cheers !

Hi,

Welcome to LQ!

You can always 'man command';

Quote:
excerpt from 'man ping'

-s packetsize
Specifies the number of data bytes to be sent. The default is 56, which translates into 64 ICMP data bytes when combined with the 8 bytes of ICMP header data.
