there are mostly two different type u can download for a software like mozilla.
one ends with rpm (mozilla-version#.rpm)
one ends with tar.gz (mozilla-version#.tar.gz)
version# might be 1.0 0.95 1.01 1.1 whatever
so it would actually look like mozilla-1.0.rpm
if u get rpm version.
$ su -
passwd: **** ( your root password)
# rpm -Uvh mozilla-version#.rpm
if u get tar.gz version
$ su -
passwd: ****
# tar xzvf mozilla-version#.rpm
# cd mozilla-version
# ./configure && make && make install
and type 'mozilla'
this is general procedure for any program u download
and there are some gotchas in this procedure
if u see 'error' doing it, ask again
