I have Red Hat 8.0 and wish to upgrade my browser from Mozilla 1.0 to 1.3
Do I have to install it as root?
Thanks for any help

yes, during the install it needs write access to places that the normal user account doesn't have.

Thanks for the answers. I downloaded the tar.gz file under my user account but when I log in as root its not there. What do I need to do? Sorry for the dumb questions.

You need to go into the directory where you downloaded them to. If your username was joe then you would do:

cd /home/joe
