installing a app with mandrake

I am trying to install mozilla on my mandrake 9.2. However I get hung up when it tries to create directory /usr/local/mozilla/. I tried to create in the terminal and couldnt. Am I not logged on correctly or is there something else I am missing?

To install the vast majority of programs on Linux, you need to have root access. Open a terminal and type in su and hit enter. Then type in the root password and hit enter. You will see the $ symbol has now changed to #. This means that you are now running with root access. Now install Mozilla. At the end, type in exit to leave root access and again to exit the terminal.
