Unhappy need help installing app

hi there, im a real newbie to linux and have a question about installing a program i need for my university course.

ive downlaoded the program called fdr2 from fsel.com and uncompressed it but i have no idea how to run the program. its only a small app, about 1.5Mb i think but when i run ./fdr2 from the command line it says FDRHOME must be set to the installation directory but i have no idea where it is or how to change it.

any help would be much appreciated

thanks

Welcome to LQ.

Perhaps you need to set the variable FDRHOME to the installation pat:
export FDRHOME="/path/to/install"

Are there not README or INSTALL docs with the app?

I don't think there are any files - just an environment variable.

I've never mentioned changing any files - run an export command to set the variable like I showed above.
