hybernate option, what does it do?


hello guys. i am downloading a file overnight on chrome and was wondering if i go in hybernate mode... will it keep downloading or will it stop?

It will stop downloading and it will save your ram memory into your swap and turn off your computer. When you turn your computer on it will load ram memory back from swap and you will have OS in state before hybernating

HI Mystkid, It's hibernate, not hybernate.

No it will not keep downloading. But when the system wake up from hibernate you will see everything as was before hibernate.

Hibernate is a state used as an alternate to poweroff your PC , which is faster than poweroff.

And it just saves the contents from RAM(Volatile Memory) to SWAP(Nonvolatile Memory) when hibernate occurs and do the reverse when the system starts.

i download alot of files from the net and keep the computer running 24/7, is there a way to reduce energy consumption?
