I have recently installed red hat 8.0 on my new dell m/c. It has a 64MB intel video card. XFree86 -configure does not complete writing the XF86Config file and gives the error "A valid card was found but the valid entry is not available in the xf86configure.h file". I am able to run genome with a 16 bit resolution.
With a 16 bit resolution X is pathetic. Please tell me what to do!
Yeah, unfortunately i couldn't find xconfigurator with red hat 8.0-as i said before, XFree86 -configure isn't working so my XF86config file isn't getting created-
Any bright ideas?
Now I might be able to explain my problem better- now that i understood it myself!!
My XConfigurator shows max resolution to be 1024*768, but the resolution I get in my X is only 640*480. When I start X without a 640*480 option in the monitor section, I get an error that says "Only supported configuration on this model is 640 x 480 " - So my X will work only with 16bpp, 640x480 resolution.
What changes do I need to make in my XF86Config file so it will stop paining me like this !!!
