Question Help! Fedora install problems.

I tried to install Fedora core 1 and 2, each fail. Fedora 1 hangs on a white screen with a black "X" on it. Fedora 2 goes to "checking for previous installations" and the stops although the hour glass still spins. My system: Abti N-7fs, Athlon Mobile 2600 XP @ 2600MHz (13 x 200). 512Mb Mushkin Level II PC-3200, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, 2 - 38GB WD360 Raptors in Raid 0, Silicon Image controller, Plextor optical drives. I am linux illiterate, though I am certified ( MCSA, MCP, HDA, A+, Net+) for the other OS. I would appreciate and thank in advance for any help. <J>
