ftp only user

i want to creat some users with ftp only function, which will only allow him to ftp to my server, no shell login

and importantly, the user can only access his home directory, with downloading options only

for example, the username is test
home dir is /win/collection

i want this user can only download everything in /win/collection directory

To ensure no other login capabilities, give them a false shell like this:

Open /etc/passwd

And make their default shell as /bin/false

then remember to add this to your /etc/shells account as:

This will not allow them a physical shell account on the machine and only able to login thru FTP, etc.
