Floppy trouble in knoppix

Hey everyone. I'm tring to create a slackware bootdisk in knoppix using:

"dd if=/mnt/cdrom1/kernels/bare.i/bzImage of=/dev/fd0"

and I get the following error:

dd: writing to `/dev/fd0': Input/output error

I tried on two different disks and got the same result. One of the disks was brand new right out of the box. Also, after formatting the disks with mkfs, I can't mount them using:

mount /dev/fd0

I get the following error:

mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/fd0,
missing codepage or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong cuz it's not the drive or the disks since they all work properly under winxp.

Thanks.

Look at fdformat and newfs
Code:
man fdformat
Mount command should be something like
Code:
#mount /dev/fd0 /floppy
where /floppy has already been made. # means as root.
Code:
#mkdir /floppy
If you are using KDE then kfloppy will format it.

What distro are you using? Doesn't it auto mount your diskette drive in the /etc/fstab?
