Hi,
Try updating your K3B to version 0.11.18...
You should make full update to your packets, maybe via yum..
You can update your system by typing:
#yum update
at your command prompt, but remember that you need root permissions to execute this command!

I have version 0.11.18 of K3B and I don't have any problems using my 52x32x52 Writer..

i go to k3b site, add lines to /etc/yum.conf what they give there.
also add lines to /etc/apt/sources.list.d what they give to add.
i run #yum update, i get next error:

Setting up Update Process
Setting up Repo: xcyb-bleeding
http://rpms.xcyb.org/fedora/3/bleedi...ta/repomd.xml: [Errno 4] IOError: <urlopen error (111, 'Connection refused')>
Trying other mirror.
Cannot open/read repomd.xml file for repository: xcyb-bleeding
failure: repodata/repomd.xml from xcyb-bleeding: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try.

can it be my firewall blocking the connection to outside...?
i r running in root with update command.
what else can i look at??
