Unhappy Failed to start xserver in suse 10.1 PLZ HELP URGENTLY

i just installed suse 10.1 on my Pc (with Core 2 duo processor and nvidia geforce 7100 graphics card) as i am a nuB to linux so i decided to go for a dual boot with XP and SUSE 10.1.
The installation was smooth and i just used the recommended partition of SUSE of the hard drive, the os got installed from only 3 cds(rest of the 2 remained unused??)
then after reboot a boot screen came up with the choice of selecting any os ie. XP or SUSE 10.1 or SUSE 10.1 failsafe
i chose SUSE 10.1
then after loading for sometime a command line interface showed up asking for user name and password(NO GUI!)
then a strange message appear saying
"Failed to start Xserver (your graphical interface).
Its likely that it's not set up correctly, would you like to view the xserver output of the diagnosis of the problem!!"

Although my XP is running smooth but SUSE is not running on GUI.

try startx.
If that doesn't work, check the config files.
you'd find it interesting to lookup some bash commands. They are useful
