Failed to start the xserver


Hi

My graphic card is nvidia ,i encounter problem during boot ubuntu and enter graphic mode ,
error is : " Failed to start the xserver ..... "
i run fallow code to fix it

Code:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
i choose "nv" in select graphic driver section ......
but when i reboot ,i encouter that error again ....
how to i fix this problem?

That error doesn't really tell us anythin. Do you have a complete output of the error?
You could try to enable vesa and disable dri and glx. You might have to do this manually by comment out those lines from xorg.conf(Remember backup)

I recently upgraded from Fed7 to Fed8 and ended up with the same problem. I downloaded an updated driver from Nvidia's site, scp'd it my workstation and ran it as root. This fixed the problem for me. Good luck.
