Extended display questions

I'm running Mint 16 Cinnamon 64 bit and using an extended display by connecting my laptop to my TV with an HDMI cable. On Windows I'd normally use the extra display for watching Netflix and I would always switch the sound output so that instead of using my laptop speakers the sound was coming from the TV speakers. Is it possible to do this on Mint? I checked both the display and sound settings sections and didn't see any options for it.

I'm also wondering if it's possible to stay in full screen mode on the second display (The TV display) while still using the main display. I entered full screen in a video that I had playing on the TV display but once I clicked to open up Firefox in the main display it exited full screen mode. Is there a way to prevent that?

I know these questions probably have really simple answers but I'm pretty new at this and can't seem to figure it out on my own. Any help is appreciated.

Connect your computer to the Tv and go to the display settings. Play around with the options until you find the one you like most. Once you are happy with the display go to the sound settings and select the hdmi option. It will have a lot to do with your sound and video card. In my case is intel so it might vary with the options presented to you if you have nvidia or AMD
