Debian xine says Read Error from: Error reading NAV packet

Hi, I downloaded and installed Debian 6.0.4. Everything seemed to work great but when I try to play a dvd with xine or gxine I get this message: Error from the xine engine. Read Error from: Error reading NAV packet.”
Any ideas how I can fix this?

This did not resolve the issue

Thanks but my issue is not that there is no sound. My issue is that the dvd won't play. I performed the steps in the link below and now the dvd plays for a few seconds and then quits.
