?Win plays ripped DVD but Xine complains about NAV packet?

Hi all,

I ripped a DVD with VOBcopy and burned it on a blank DVD using X-CD-Roast. The DVD plays fine on Win2k but not on Linux (tried with Xine and Totem). When I try to start the movie I get a nag: "The source can't be read. Maybe you don't have enough rights for this, or source doesn't contain data...(Expected NAV packet but none found).

It is not an encryption or a permission issue since the original plays fine on Linux.

What the *peep* is going on?

Also: none of the burning sofware I have on Linux will not empty the rewritable DVDs. They say: try blank=all?

Anybody with ideas? All help is highly appreciated!

Maybe you should try to play it as root. It sayd: "Maybe you don't have enough rights for this". If that dosent work, try it in something like MPlayer. : )

Hi,

Thank you for reply. I can play the original DVD just fine as a normal user but when I change the burned one in, it gives the error box with the message mentioned above.

However, I haven't try to play it with MPlayer since I never installed it. But, let's give it a try.

I'll the post the results.

Hi again,

Well, MPlayer seems to play the DVD fine AND now even Xine! Sometimes, just sometimes I think my Mandrake has a mind of its own.

Thanks anyway,

Vx

(Saving Grace - its a funny one!)
