configuracion del modem en slackware 10.1

Hola, esta es la primera vez que utilizo linux, ya lo instalé pero me falta habilitarle la conexión a internet, mi acceso a internet es mediante un cable modem sb5100 surfboard que se conecta a la pc mediante usb y utilizo un dhcp para el ip. Necesito ayuda, si alguien me puede responder lo más rápido posible y de una manera fácil de entender se lo agradecería.
