Can't search & can't mount & cursor dies.

When try to search with KDE Help am told nothing found and did I run htdig and when do (and, yes, did create search index) am told: unable to open/create document database '/var/lib/htdig/db/db.docdb '; so tried running htdig -at but did no good.
This adds to frustration of being unable to access any of my files on floppies since KDiskFree frozen and " mount -t vfat /dev/fd0 /media/floppy or /media/floppy0 or /dev/floppy or /mnt/floppy " all give message: "mount point doesn't exist". Tried updating KDE to KDE: KDE4: STABLE but did no good. Anybody have a clue as to what is going on and some possible fix?

Did you create any of those mount points before you tried the mount command?
Eg
Code:
mkdir /mnt/floppy
mount -t vfat /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy
Welcome to LQ!

but has no Dev=...entry

Thanks Eg for advice, got floppy mounted, but still can't get it to open the file; when I put floppy icon onto Desktop and clicked it, got this message: Error-KDesktop: The desktop entry file /home/wiliam/Desktop/Floppy Device is a type FSDevice but has no Dev=...entry.
Where and what should the entry be?

I'm not sure how you "put floppy icon onto Desktop"

I don't know
But I'll make a guess here: R-Click the floppy icon on your desktop. Properties tab. Click the down-arrow for "device". Choose something suitable like /dev/fd0

I no longer use floppies, but I do use USB sticks. When I plug them in they just appear on my destop. I use them and then R-click and choose "Unmount". Works like a charm. But I am using a moderately old, but fully supported and reliably stable distro [ http://www.kubuntu.org/download.php#lts ]

Are you still using KDE4 ? I am sticking with KDE3 (again, for stability: I value function over form).

If the floppy has been mounted you should be able to access the files by navigating to its mountpoint, ( /mnt/floppy in the example I gave you above) with your filemanager.

Don't forget to unmount it before you eject it.
