Can't use Alcatel Speedtouch 510 with Mandrake 10

I have a laptop with Mandrake 10 connected through LAN to an Alcatel Speedtouch 510 Multi-user ADSL Gateway.

However I can't work out how to actually get connected to the internet. The Speedtouch manual tells me to type into my browser to access the Speedtouch settings. This works fine with the Windows XP and 98 computers also connected to the gateway, but with my Mandrake PC i don't get anything, and as far as I can tell it is because my ethernet card is configured wrongly in some way or other.

I have a Broadcom NetXtreme BCM5788 Gigabit Ethernet card and when starting up my computer in verbose mode i get:

Failed to bring up eth0 [FAILED]

every time.

I've messed around with the network configurations a bit but I basically don't have a clue what i'm doing, so if anyone has any suggestions it would be helpful.
