Best way to find out primary interface on RHEL Linux

Could someone please help me with the best way to find out the primary interface on RHEL Linux. I came across http://www.allinterview.com/showanswers/81098.html. Is this the best way?

Yes, usually the interface that the default gateway is on can be considered the primary interface

Consider a different perspective on a machine which runs in a strictly enforced routing policy environment that does not incorporate any default gateway, i.e. every route is statically defined. Under this kind of environment, every active interface should be considered as primary.

Thanks AlucardZero and sibe for your kind response. As default gateway is configured in my context, I will use the specified solution to find out the primary router.

Regards
