Thanks for the quick reply

Running "cat /etc/redhat-release" returned the following
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.2 (Tikanga)

Does this mean this is ES? How to get RHEL AS 5.2?
what will above command return for RHEL AS 5?

In Redhat 5.x there are no ES and AS versions, but rather plain Enterprise and Enterprise Advanced Platform. Read this for the differences between the 2.
I guess you have to pay the extra cost to upgrade to Advanced Platform.

I understand the difference between both editions.

But is there a command that i can run to find out whether my linux is Advanced platform or not?

if i run "cat /etc/redhat-release" it's always returning output as "Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.2"

I want to differentiate both

1. Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.2
or
2. Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server Advanced Platform release 5.2

Well I don't know if redhat-release should show just Enterprise or Enterprise Advanced Platform because I'm not using rhel 5.x, but I guess it should.
Another way to identify the version is:
Code:
lsb_release -a
but its output is similar to redhat-release.
