Hi guys,
I spent two weeks of evenings configuring the new 2.6.24 kernel and ran into some snags. If I could get some help from you experts, I would greatly appreciate it.
1. I get some kind of error in dmesg. What does this mean, "ICH4: not 100% native mode: will probe irqs later"?
Here is a part of my dmesg:
Why does it say “ICH4: not 100% native mode: will probe irqs later” and what does it mean?
2. Second problem, my Ipod nano is not recognized when plugged in the usb port. My other usb devices are recognized such as mouse and printer. I think the issue is specific to the ipod. I think that it is considered a scsi device. Please correct me if I am wrong. I did enable scsi support though my hd is not scsi.
3."Module pcspker not found." message comes up when booting. I have no sound. I checked my, make xconfig, for the kernel and verified that I had included pcspkr. Any clue how to fix this?
4.On boot I get a message saying something like, “Looking for linux 2.6.21-smp modules.” The message scrolls so fast that Im not sure of the exact message it does not show up in dmesg. Before copying the new kernel to /boot I made sure to run “make modules_install” after configuring the kernel. I also verified that I am using the correct 2.6.24 kernel.
Your help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
