Depending on which LiveCD you use, if the network is not configured at bootup, you should be able to use the Network & Internet section from the System Control Centre.

For example: With PClinuxOS, you click on the Administration icon then go to Network & Internet--> Set up a new network interface (LAN, ISDN, ADSL, ...)--> ethernet at which point the ethernet card you want to set up should be displayed, select it and carry on with the connection wizard to the end of the process. Be sure to select DHCP as the method to assign an IP.

Assuming you do not own the computer, you probably cannot do this. In order to boot to the CD you have to change a bios setting. Most internet cafes have their bios password protected.

Easy. Ask cafee's system administrator about this machine's network setup. (It's unlikely that he'll provide you with information, though) Otherwise you'll have to guess settings for this particular machine.

You have to ask the sysadmin of the cafe. But if it uses DHCP, this settings (DNS, gateway, etc...) should be configured automatically.

As for DNS, you can just use OpenDNS (208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222).

Unless you have changed it, DHCP is the default setting.
