USB modem/router question

Guys i have an adsl modem/router. The modem can be connected to the computer via the usb port. Is there a way i can do this in linux. At the minute it is connected to my computer via an ethernet port and nic card.

I want to connect via usb because i have two computers but only one network card.

Any ideas?
