Tunneling Questions

hey gang,

I've seen some people running some tunnels to play a form of xbox internet play before.. but I'm wondering if its possible to tunnel specific ports from one linux box to another to allow the tunneling of lan games.. (like starcraft, warcraft, and the ipx based games).. I know me and a buddy have a couple games that are lan only and we would love to be able to play them remotely with each other.. it possible with some configurations?

You can use ssh to forward arbitrary ports from the remote machine to the local machine and visa-versa. See the -L and -R options.

SSH tunneling might consume your bandwidth (incase of internet).

You might wanna try port forwarding via ipchains

I haven't tried that before, but I saw a lot of articles here. Search for "iptables port forward" & read the manual (man iptables) before you make a new post.
