squid: ERROR: no running copy

Hi,

I am getting squid:ERROR:no running copy when checked status. I tried the following, but the problem remains same.

ps ax | grep squid
83617 ?? Ss 0:00.00 squid -s
83619 ?? S 0:00.48 (squid) -s (squid)

echo 83619 > /usr/local/squid/logs/squid.pid

kill -HUP 83619

Please help.

Did you follow this post?
You must not follow it to the letter, because the pid numbers are not the same for everyone. First run the ps command to find the squid pid and then create the squid.pid file based on that number. Note also that depending on distro the location of that file may vary.
So it's better tell us your distro, the squid version you're running and how you installed it.
