Why can't my lunux machine ping my XP machine? their IPs are 192.168.0.3 and 192.168.0.7 respectively. subnet masks are 255.255.255.0. they are on the same hub/switch
one more thing,
my windowXP machine running AnalogX as the proxy server. i am able to get Windows-based OSes to run as proxy clients, but I'm unable to do so with my linux system. how can i set up my Mandrake to be the proxy client? im using KDE gui.
My cable internet connection works fine if its connected directly to my LAN port. i just cant quite ping my XP machine, and vice versa
if any of you experts have the time, please help me out. thank you

well, if u can't ping your XP machine then u won't be able to use your proxy server, right?
fix your network problem first - check ur cables, check the LEDs in both ends (NIC and hub/switch). check your linux machine's logs for any error messages.
