Sendmail time out error

Hi,

I'm using webmin to configure a redhat 9 system acting as a sendmail server.

In the mail queue section I sometimes get an error like this :

"timeout writing message to et.netconnect.co.za.: Connection timed out with et.netconnect.co.za."

How do I fix this.

It most likely just means that the remote server is down. Your server will probably retry several times before giving up.

I know that the remote mail server is not down.

Can you post some lines from your log file? ("/var/logs/sendmail.log" or something like that)

what is the response time if you ping et.netconnect.co.za?
if the response is bad check out the timeout values in the sendmail.cf
