Sending of message error

Hi all!
I have installed red hat 8, and i just configured sendmail. i'm able to telnet port 25 with no problem. However, when i'm trying to send and email to an external address from this machine (i'm using mozilla) I get the following error:

Sending of message failed.
The message could no be sent because connecting to the SMTP Server failed. The server may be unavailable or is refunsing SMTP connections. Please verify that your SMTP server setting is correct and try again.

In mozilla, I put in SMTP the following:
Server name: localhost
Port 25

and then changed it to his own ip address:
Server name: 192.168.1.56
Port: 25

The user name and password box is unchecked in both cases.

Any ideas/suggestions?

thanks in advance.

I have not tried using mozilla mail, just "mail", "kmail", and "evolution". My experience with RH has been that I have not had to configure sendmail on the linux box, just setup the POP/SMTP account information on the client.

At work, we use MSexchange server. I have always been able to send mail from the RH linux clients automagically without configuring anything.

Hope this helps a little. Good luck.
