Hello all:

Right after I start qmail, I run qmail stat and get the following output:

/service/qmail-send: up (pid 12858) 20 seconds
/service/qmail-send/log: up (pid 12864) 20 seconds
/service/qmail-smtpd: up (pid 13116) 1 seconds
/service/qmail-smtpd/log: up (pid 12861) 20 seconds
messages in queue: 0
messages in queue but not yet preprocessed: 0

Now the /service/qmail-smtpd stays at either 1 or 0 seconds for a long time (about 200 seconds). You see, letting the server run for a while and running qmailctl stat:

/service/qmail-send: up (pid 10954) 4928 seconds
/service/qmail-send/log: up (pid 10957) 4928 seconds
/service/qmail-smtpd: up (pid 11993) 4771 seconds
/service/qmail-smtpd/log: up (pid 10956) 4928 seconds
messages in queue: 0
messages in queue but not yet preprocessed: 0

I am wondering if this is a problem? I have gone through tthe installation and configuration at lifewithqmail.org three times.

I am running FC 2 and Qmail v.1.05. Any help is GREATLY appreciated and if you need any further info, please let me know.

You see FC2 is very old and lacks a lot of lib files. it will be very good if you could update to FC 10. This will insulate you from most of these problems. Wishing you all the best.
