I recently (somewhat unwillingly) became the sys admin for one of my school's mail servers which is running qmail. I believe the guy who set it up customized the installation. I went out and bought and read Dave Sill's "Qmail Handbook" and in it, it talks about how you can use rblsmtpd to block spammers that are on blacklists. The book says to add some lines to /var/qmail/supervise/qmail-smtpd/run. However, in my configuration, there is no such directory (there isn't even a qmail-smtpd directory). I am therefore lost to what script is being used to run qmail-smtpd. Additionally, there are no scripts on my machine named "run." Does anyone have any suggestions for tracking down what is being used to run qmail-smtpd and how I can add rblsmtpd to the script to check blacklists?

Try to find what you are looking for....

as root.... find / -name qmail 2>/dev/null

see what it returns...

I think that supervise is part of the daemontools package.
