I want to access email on my pop3 server by username.
I need some program which will check the email on my pop3 server and junk it if the user does not exist.
If there is mail for userA, I want it left on the server. If there is mail for userB, I want it taken off the server and downloaded to my Suse 10.1 box for access locally.
Is there an application (preferably part of the Suse 10.1 distro) which would do this?
If so, is there a comprehensive howto on this?
Additionally, I wouldn't mind running a couple of rudimentary checks for spam on the emails on the server and junking them if they fail the tests.....
I use:
"poll pop.example.com with proto POP3
user general@example.com there with password 'my_password' is dave here"
which places the catch-all mail in the file /var/spool/mail/dave
I need to split it out to separate users as I've indicated.
Looking through the Fetchmail documentation again, I see there is provision for "Multidrops".
However, I'm not sure that this is what would be appropriate here.
There is only one user "general@example.com" with one password, but the mail must be split according to what is in the "TO" field (and the "CC" and other fields).
I know this can be done with Procmail but I would probably need to set up a user (procmail) as in "is user procmail here" and then process the /var/spool/mail/procmail file to split it into the correct recipient's mailboxes.
Does this sound like I'm going in the right direction? Ideally I would like to leave certain recipients' mail on the server, but if this is not possible.....
