problem mapping to centos 5.3 from windows

Hello,

I am having a problem setting up samba on centos. I have setup two computers with centos 5.3 and can map properly to and from windows but the third computer does not allow mapping. I activated the SMB services but no access. When I try to map from centos I get an error saying: "myfolder" could not be found. Perhaps it have recently been deleted, when I try to map from Windows 2003 and I type in the correct password I get an error saying: The drive could not be mapped because no network was found, and when I try to map from Windows XP the form acts like the password is incorrect.

Is there a computer setting I have to change in centos for this to work correctly?

hey,

make sure you have installed smaba-common and samba-client, also you will need to add the user to samba user, so for eg you have a ssh user user1, you need to add user1 to samba by running following command:

smbpasswd -a user1

also you need to make sure that port UDP 137 and 138 and TCP 139 and 445 is allowed or just stop iptables and then test.

Lastly to allow smb in se linux do chcon -t samba-share-t / path to shared folder

also just to test you can swicth selinux off by setenforce 0

and then check.

i hope it helps
