Network Backup

Hi all

I have two Linux servers. I have one server that is my main web hosting server and the other is just linux. I would like to make a mirror of my main server to the second server over the network. Is there a good site to help with this or could someone walk me through the steps.

Thanks all

mdk3

Just use 'rsync', as in
Code:
rsync -av /files/to/copy remotehost:/destination
This will require rsyncd running on the remotehost. Alternatively, you could use rsync over ssh with -e ssh, and then you'd want to set up public keys for ssh.

Well i was also looking for this type of application. but i am not seeing that daemon on my redhat9 or in fedora core3 . i looked at /etc/init.d. but i am not able to find it. But my needs are a bit different. i want the whole system to be mirrored to the remote machne. so that is the my first machine get's crashed then i can make the other one online. i want to copy the whole thing including the booting image and the system files. is there such kind of a application.

You should look at SystemImager for a complete server solution.

Keep in mind, in order for this to be successful, you'll need identical hardware on both machines. (or kernels configured to handle both machines)
