Netboot

Hello,

I intend to setup a netboot on my LAN but am failing somewhere.

1- I have successfully setup DHCP server

2- Successfully setup TFTPF-HPA

When I boot, client computers boot from the network however it fails to install when i select install and when i check syslog it see error "tftp: client does not accept options" and secondly I have put my iso image in /var/lib/tftboot how can I make client computeres boot form its kernel.

Hope to hear from you

I don't think that this error is relevant. If you see menu, tftp works. Post your pxelinux.cfg and related files and describe how you configured booting from LAN.

If you just want an install server without too much fuss, try cobbler, it can maintain the configuration of all the bits and pieces for you - tftp, dhcp, distributions etc

cheers

I might suggest that you boot live cd/dvd knoppix 5.x on a computer. Start knoppix terminal server then boot pxe client on lan. It should work. Then you can go back to the knoppix and look at how the terminal server script setup tftp and pxeconfig and other settings that you can learn from. The iso would need to be mounted loop I think. Not sure if all disto's could boot to a pxe servers iso. Kind of a lot going on.

hello all,

I fixed my netboot, problem was with the copied files from my mounted iso image.. somehow i had failed to copy the hidden file .disc to my exported nfs folder in /srv/install. but after copying everything worked.
