Need to get on the Internet on Redhat Linux 7.3

I just installed Redhat linux 7.3 (i know its an old version) as a dual boot config with windows XP and it boots properly and such. I installed it so that i can learn how to use linux as the disc was included with one of my college textbooks. My problem is that i tried to configure the network options for the internet but my ethernet adapter (nforce3 controller i suppose) does not appear on the list of adapters to use. I went to the nvidia site on my properly configured Windows OS and downloaded a linux driver for amd64 PCs and tried to open it in Redhat from a burned CD but it didn't work either. It just said something about "This file is too big for nautilus to open" or something. The file is 3.3 MB. I just thought i would be able to double click it and it would install the NVIDIA ethernet drivers but i guess i'm doing something wrong and that's why i'm here. Thank you so much for any help guys. I appreciate it. I am very new at linux and dont know much but i am kind of experienced at Windows so feel free to be somewhat technical with me if needed.

hi,
although i can't help you with your problem but would like to suggest you to switch to some new linux.
B'coz its just starting of problems, with such an old linux you will face problems at most of the stages as you won't get support as well as new softwares compatible with it.

regards

You might have better luck in finding a "rpm" file with those proper drivers or if the file is in a compressed format, you may have to "un-compress" and then compile the code manually. These are options. I also use RH7.3 and have had no problems with getting on the web. It seems to be a very stable, yet older version of RH. Best of luck.
