login windows 2000 domain

Hi,

Hi i'm somewhat new to Linux and I'm hoping I can get some help.

I just installed redhat 9.0 and i noticed that there is a smb authentication tab... i wanted to know if that allows me to login with my user account on the windows 2000 domain controller?
I also enabled LDAP to see if that helps. I tried using my windows username to login on the login prompt but it doesn't seem to work.

You can use SMB authentication to verify your login against the win2k domain controller. Put your domain controller info in the SMB auth tab.

The only other thing you need to do is create an account on the Linux box. You need to add the user still, but it will check the password against the win2k PDC instead of local Linux userlist.

So create a linux account (adduser <username>) with the same username as your win2k username and you should be good to go.
