LAN with RH 9.0 server and XP clients,no connection of cliens!
Hi there
After alittle bit of struggle, I got my RH9.0 running, I want to use it as a server of my network cafe.Ive got XP clients (untill now).The network looks like this,
eth0 => internet
eth1=> LAN towards hub
The internet connection on RH9.0 is fine,and Iam able to ping the clients. Ive got static IP addresses on both the server and the clients.Neverless,the clients do not have any connectivity.To make it short, I didnt try anything since I do not know what to try (And yes I read the thread preceeding my thread and I could not find anything helpful).
Any help is welcomed
The basics:
For the clients, the gateway address should be the same as your server IP address. Add the /etc/resolv.conf nameserver IP addresses to the client DNS entry.
For the server, enable IP fowarding and be sure to configure the firewall
Thanks for your advice.
The thing is that I know how to setup a network on windows, and Iam sure Ive done what you have proposed about the gateway etc. on the client.I rather believe that the problem is on the server (Ive configured the server the same as the configuration of the XP server, which works fine by the way).So about the firewall,Ive turned it temprorary off, so I still need to enable IP forwarding.
Can you help me with this one???
Pleassssssssssssssseeeeeee
Sorry Guys,I think that Arno sent me the message while I was writting my reply. So if it is the answer to my question, just Ignore my last thread.
