I have a domain controller using win 2003.
when i configure my samba to "domain = share" then from windows computers, i can access share folders on Redhat 9 but i can't access to windows share folders from Redhat 9.
Any idea will be appriciated.
Another question is I want to join this samba server to be a domain member of this network, can you show me ?
thanks for yours.
I did have 2pcs running red hat 9(samba 2.2.7a) and RH En (samba 3.0.10).
I was able to join the RH En to my domain but to not the red hat 9 though i've configured the same on both machine.
this is an error msg when I try to join RH9 to my domain :
" Error connecting to VSIISRV - NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
Unable to join domain VSII.
"
Other than those items mentioned in my article, I have seen where open connections to the domain controller can cause it to fail.
If you have any mounts to shares on the domain controller in your fstab file, remove them. You may also want to disable Samba from starting up when the server boots. Then reboot your server. After you reboot, immediately try to join the domain.
If that doesn't help anything, it may be the way the AD domain on your Win2k3 server is configured. It may not be configured to accept the older type authentication that Windows NT 4 would use. That's the same type of authentication that Samba 2.2 would use.
I'm not familiar with how to check for that or configure that on a Win2k3 server.
If someone on this site can't answer that, you could try a Google search or a search on Microsoft's web site.
If it's possible, an upgrade from Samba 2.2 to 3 on the RH 9 machine may solve the problem.
