IP disappear after reboot...

Hi,

I am running Red Hat 7.3. I assigned an IP by doing:

>ifconfig eth0 192.168.0.100 netmask 255.255.255.0 up

I can see IP address has been assigned by doing >ifconfig.

But after I reboot the machine, IP is gone.

What gives? How do I resolve this issue?

TIA.

Frank

I can't remember that far back where the files were kept, so run:

locate ifcfg-eth0

It will be in a /etc subdirectory. Edit that file to add the default values you want to keep between reboots. For example:

DEVICE=eth0
BOOTPROTO=none
BROADCAST=192.168.0.255
IPADDR=192.168.0.100
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
NETWORK=192.168.0.0
ONBOOT=yes
TYPE=Ethernet
GATEWAY=192.168.0.1
