files.. disappear??

i had files completely disappear on me.. but the weird thing is the space remaining is the same!!

i had a folder /home/dongmin/video

inside the folder, there were some files with some weird characters that i couldn't delete in konqueror or krusader.. i thot maybe i could do it under root, so i startup X again in root but no luck.

so then i took out all the folders/files in the folder "video" that i wanted to keep, and copied it to /home/ then brought up a shell and typed:

rm -rf video

that worked well.. so i logout and login again using my username, and the stuff i temporarily placed in /home are GONE!! i even searched for it using the find files function in kde.. in both root and my username just in case.. nothing.

and the space remaning is stil the SAME.. these files must be somewhere!! what can i do?

are you sure you didn't move it somewhere else (like into /home thats not mounted? or something...)

or maybe that krusader thingy was shot, or maybe the /home was on a different partition then you turned off your computer to soon and the FS erased the stuff (or if its ext2/3 it might have goten corrupted)
