I have 3com 3c501rhel 5.0 problematic.


I have 3com 3c501 ethernet card have this problem :-
when giving a command :-
#service network restart

Bringing up interface eth0: 3c501 device eth0 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization.

Ihave tried this too:-
# lspci

output for eth0 -

01:00.0 Ethernet controller: Attansic Technology Corp. Unknown device 1026 (rev b0)

what is real problem? how to solve it?

The real problem is you didn't pay attention to the reply you got in your other thread, about essentially the same problem:

Did you load the module?? Have you configured the interface? And have you contacted RedHat support, since you're paying for it, with your RHEL subscription? The patches/updates they push out are helpful too...since you're paying for them, have you applied them?

The 3COM 3C501 is a ISA network adapter which may not be supported anymore. It will not show up in the output of the lspci command. Does this computer actually have ISA slots? Post the make/model of this computer.

I believe that this Attansic adapter uses the atl1e which may not be in the RHEL kernel.
