Hi,
I've just set up my ADSL connection (BT Broadband through a BT Voyager 105 modem) using the EciADSL Nortek alpha driver version 0.10, on my box running Slackware 9 using the instructions below:
1. Download, extract and compile.
2. Copy gs7470_synch03.bin from GS7470SynchFiles /etc/eciadsl
3. # make cfg
4. Username:
Firstname.Lastname@btbroadband.com
Password: x
Provider: British Telecom
DNS1: default
DNS2: default
VPI: 0
VCI: 38
Modem: BT Voyager 105
VID1/PID1/VID2/PID2: defaults
Chipset: GS7470
USB ALT interface for SYNCH: default
USB ALT interface for PPPOECI: default
Synch file: /etc/eciadsl/gs7470_synch03.bin
PPP mode: default
DHCP: no
Static IP: no
I can connect and browse, etc., however whenever any reasonably large transfer occurs (eg. ~20MB), the connection is dropped and the system slows to a crawl. After logging out of KDE, the X server fails to shut down and it is necessary to hit CTRL-C to get back to a prompt. When restarting X following this (via startx) I need to press CTRL-C at least twice to get it to respond. In order to get the modem recognised agin. it is necessary to disconnect and reconnect it. I suspect this is a driver issue and any help in rectifying it would be appreciated.
Ansel.
