e100 device eth0 does not seem to be present

I am using RHEL 5. Everything was fine till yesterday and i could connect to internet also.

Today i rebooted my computer and tried connecting to internet....I was activating the eth0 and when I tried to activate it, I got the following error:

e100 device eth0 does not seem to be present

I did route -n and found nothing in the table !!

Today I rebooted my comp. and saw that there are only 5 modules ....I did lsmod and only 5 modules ...whack !!

Any idea, where did all the modules went? I mean why did they disappear ? And how to bring them back ?

Plz reply !! I don't want to format and reinstall OS again..its a huge pain !!

Do an lspci. It could be that the nic died. If the nic is not being detected the modules will not be loaded.
