That's how your networking card is called, where your networking cable from your modem is plugged in.

For PPPoE you normally DON'T enter IP and gateway (in Windows, where you say it worked fine for you, there is no way you insert such things to set up PPPoE connection).
But what you definitely DO need to enter is your username and password.

So, MAKE SURE you get to the DSL tab of your Network Manager to configure your ADSL connection. And when you really get there, there must be options to insert at least the following:
1. Your ethernet interface where your modem is connected
2. Username
3. Password

And generally: it won't hurt to read a couple of HOWTOs about networking in general and DSL connections in particular. Just to make sure what, for example, DSL configuration looks like and other basic things.
