These days I will try to creat a dial up connections using RedHat Linux 9.I will creat a PPP(Point to Point) connection . But How do I dial ,Are there any menu like Windows(DOS) ?
Do I need to detect the modem ,Before I creat a dial up connetion ?

What type of modem is it? - it'll need to be recognised first - you can set up your dial up parameters using - System tools - Internet configuration wizard and to dial in simply activate the particular network device.

RedHat 9 modem

If your modem is something that Linux can deal with, RedHat 9 should find it.

Click the RedHat in the lower left corner and go up to System Tools
move right to Internet Connection Wizzard and click it.
follow the instructions on the screen, and if you have a decent modem, it will be as simple as you entering your ISP info.

This works on older ISA and newer PCI modems that are not winmodems.

Good Luck
